– conquered the 21st position in the ATP ranking in 2021, winning the titles in Cagliari at the ATP 250 Sardegna Open, to become the first singles champion in Italy since 2006 and first doubles champion (with Vavassori) since 2005

– entered into the Top 50 after winning in final of the ATP 250 Antalya Open tournament against Kecmanovic, attaining the first ATP Tour title in 2019

–  beat number 1 Djokovic, 6-2 6-1, in the quarterfinals of the ATP Vienna 2020, in an excellent performance, dominating him as no-one has ever done before

– won a match point against Thiem, gaining access to the quarter-finals of the ATP Masters 1000 in Rome in 2021, becoming the first Italian semifinalist at the Foro Italico since 2007 and the second since 1978

– defeated Fritz 7-6 (5) 6-3 7-6 (17) in 2020, reaching the fourth round of the Roland Garros for the first time, winning in the longest men’s singles tiebreak in tournament history
